At LVI we recognize an oft ignored principle that venture capitalists don’t build great companies entrepreneurs do. Entrepreneurs are extraordinary individuals possessing unusual intelligence, energy, vision and drive, and should have large stakes in their companies that can generate great wealth for those who make the early sacrifices.

     Thus we desire our portfolio company managers to have a significant direct equity ownership in their companies as well as substantial upside in the form of stock options or other equity securities. In combination, this ownership structure allows management to act as highly motivated owner-managers and provides management the opportunity for substantial wealth creation.

     While we leave the day-to-day management of our portfolio companies to the entrepreneurs and management teams, we are active board members. We view ourselves as experienced advisors who partner with companies to ensure continued growth and success.

     The bottom line is that we believe in being a supportive partner focused on customer and partner introductions; not a heavy hand.
